Hydrocolloid technology
On contact with wound exudate, the hydrocolloid matrix forms a cohesive gel which supports moist wound healing.

The hydrocolloid formulation of the DuoDERM® dressings is unique, consisting of a cross-linked honeycomb matrix made from a proprietary mix of sodium carboxymethylcellulose, gelatin, pectin and adhesive polymers.
Key properties of the three hydrocolloids contained in the DuoDERM® dressing formulation:
| |
1. Sodium CMC (NaCMC)
- Polysaccharide, rapidly absorbs fluid and gels, provides instant absorbency.
2. Pectin
- Polysaccharide, absorbent.
- Provides a lower pH to the formulation that more closely matches that of human skin.
- Provides medium term absorbency
3. Gelatin
- Protein, provides longer term absorbency.

DuoDERM® dressings incorporate the unique ConvaTec hydrocolloid formulation that distinguishes them from other hydrocolloid dressings.
