AQUACEL® dressing application guide for diabetic foot ulcersa
DRESSING
AQUACEL® Hydrofiber® Wound Dressing, Sterile is indicated for use on exuding diabetic foot ulcers.
For dry wounds, apply the dressing and moisten only the area directly over the wound with sterile saline.
AQUACEL ® dressing is appropriate to use with other therapies such as off-loading.
APPLICATION

Cleanse the wound with an appropriate cleanser.
Apply to shallow wounds with an adequate overlap (at least 1 cm) of the wound edges.

Loosely pack sheet or ribbon into deeper wounds to about 80% capacity, leaving a small overhang (at least 2.5 cm) to facilitate removal.
Dressing can be cut to size without shedding fibers.
Cover and secure with an appropriate dressing.

OBSERVATION
AQUACEL ® dressing can be left in the wound until strikethrough of the secondary dressing occurs or changed according to clinical need up to a maximum of 7 days.
REMOVAL
AQUACEL ® dressing is designed to be easy to remove leaving minimal residue in the wound.1
In the unlikely event of adherence to the wound bed, the dressing can be easily removed by soaking with saline.
