AQUACEL® Ag dressing for leg ulcers
AQUACEL® Ag dressing does more than just provide antimicrobial activity.
*Artist's interpretation
AQUACEL® Ag Hydrofiber® Dressing with Silver, Sterile
is indicated for moderate to high exuding wounds which are infected or at risk of infection.
Because it is the only antimicrobial dressing that incorporates Hydrofiber® Technology, it:
- Releases ionic silver in a controlleda manner as wound exudate is absorbed into the dressing1,2
- May help protect periwound skin by helping reduce the risk of macerationb,3,4
- May help minimize cross-infection during dressing removalb,5
- Is soft and conformable6
- Supports wound healing by providing a moist wound healing environment7
- AQUACEL®Ag dressing provides rapid and sustained antimicrobial activity in vitro1,2,8
- As demonstrated in in vitro testing, AQUACEL®Ag dressing provides sustained antimicrobial activity for up to 7 days.2

CLINICAL STUDY RESULTS
Vanscheidt, et al. 2003 [+]
In a multicenter, non-comparative clinical trial of 15 patients with chronic leg ulcers, managed with AQUACEL®Ag dressing, the following was observed8:
- 95% of ulcers managed in the protocol of care showed marked or mild improvement after 28 days
- Mean reduction of ulcer area was 23.9%
- Pain scores from baseline to final evaluation were significantly reduced for both dressing in situ and during removal (P<0.05).

Notes [+]
- The amount of silver released is controlled by the maximum amount of silver that can get into solution.
- In in vitro testing for AQUACEL® dressing, which is of the same construction as AQUACEL Ag® dressing with the exception of the addition of ionic silver.
