AQUACEL® Ag dressing application guide for pressure ulcersa
DRESSING
AQUACEL® Ag Hydrofiber® Dressing with Silver, Sterile
is indicated for use on pressure (decubitus) ulcers.
For dry wounds, apply the dressing and moisten only the area directly over the wound with sterile saline.
AQUACEL®Ag dressing is appropriate to use with other therapies such as compression or pressure relieving devices.
APPLICATION

Cleanse the wound with an appropriate cleanser.
Apply to shallow wounds with an adequate overlap (at least 1cm) of the wound edges.

Loosely pack sheet or ribbon into deeper wounds to about 80% capacity, leaving a small overhang (at least 2.5 cm) to facilitate removal.
Dressing can be cut to size without shedding fibers.
Cover and secure with an appropriate dressing.

OBSERVATION
AQUACEL®Ag dressing may be left in place for a maximum of 7 days but should be changed as required according to clinical need. This will be determined by saturation of the dressing or strikethrough of the cover dressing.
REMOVAL
AQUACEL®Ag dressing is designed to be easy to remove without leaving residue in the wound. In the unlikely event of adhesion to the wound bed, the dressing can be easily removed by soaking with sterile saline.
